First Fondue
During supper last night, Glenn was talking about how his bout of stomach flu hit him at a very inopportune time. The band was being treated to a wonderful spread at P.F. Chang’s. One of the items that Glenn missed out on was the chocolate fondue fountain. Grandma suddenly says, “I should pull out my chocolate fondue pot!” I didn’t even know she had one! By the time I got Miles into bed, the yummy scent of chocolate was wafting upstairs. We all gathered around the table to share a small feast of strawberries, grapes, and graham crackers dipped in chocolate. Awesome.

MAN!!! The things I miss out on! Add some pineapple to that feast - I am SOOO there! :)
Grandma used this recipe from Better Homes and Gardens online:
11 1/2 oz milk chocolate pieces
1/4 cup milk
1 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
In the top of a double boiler placed over gently simmering water, or in heavy small saucepan, combine the chocolate pieces and 1/4 cup milk. Heat, stirring constantly, over low heat until chocolate is melted and smooth. Stir in the peanut butter. Cook and stir till heated through. Stir in additional milk, 1 tbsp at a time, until desired consistency.
Pour mixture into a fondue pot; place over fondue burner set on low. With fondue forks or long skewers, dip fruit dippers, cake cubes and/or marshmallows into chocolate mixture. (Will hold up to 1 hour on low. If mixture gets too thick, add milk 1 tbsp at a time) Makes 5 (1/4 cup) servings.
Oh my, there's a twist to that same recipie and they've called it Flaming Turtle Fondue. Now that sounds good too. There's lots of recipes to be found online. Just look around - you'll find one that suits you.
Krista, we talked about having pineapple the next time too. Yumm. Oh! Grandma and I tried it with a small piece of candied ginger too. Not bad at all!
